Grimsey Winter Day Tour

Experience the elements like a local – first hand! We are very excited to offer you the best of the Arctic part of Iceland in a day!

The Arctic Grimsey Ferry Day Tour is a day tour from Dalvik harbor (30 min drive from Akureyri) where you’ll take the ferry Sæfari with your Arctic Trip guide to Grimsey Island. The seas can be rough during the winter months and the climate at sea and on the island can be different from what you can expect on the mainland. You’ll get to know the history of Grimsey village and its inhabitants, cross the Arctic Circle and if weather and conditions allow, go to the Orbis et Globus monument. Light refreshments are included on the island.

The ferry to Grímsey leaves from Dalvík at 9:00. You will arrive at the island at 12:00. The tour starts as you arrive and lasts till 14:00 when the ferry leaves. The ferry then arrives in Dalvík again at 17:00. There’s free parking space in Dalvík harbor for your car.

A day in the Arctic is a day to remember!

– Ferry entry from Dalvík, departing at 9:00 and back from Grímsey at 14:00
